$115 for a baby carrier? Yes, and worth every penny. I have NO BACK PAIN AT ALL during and after wearing this. It is so comfortable for the caregiver and the baby.
When I got mine I couldn't wait to use it, then read that it's for babies 15 lbs and over (approximately. Exact weight requirement is in kg). I was very frustrated, and didn't want to have to buy the infant insert as well, but my itty bitty baby is in the 12 lb range at 5 months old. Several of my mommy friends have one of these and have the insert and told me it's not exactly necessary, a rolled towel would suffice. So that's what we do.
My son absolutely loves this carrier. He prefers to be in it during feedings so he can be upright. I put him to sleep in it multiple times a day. I use this carrier on average 5 times a day. My son just wants to be held all the time and the sling I had was killing me. I didn't mind the baby bjorn style carrier, but was constantly adjusting it and the baby, and it made my upper back hurt. This thing is a winner for everyone involved. I'm a skeptic, but it really is as amazing as everyone says. Even better, really.

I always thought that once I found "the perfect baby carrier" that would be it. It turns out that I need multiple ones for different needs. The Ergo is definately on that list. Advantages of Ergo vs. other carriers:
Ergo: I can't comment on using it with a newborn, but it is great for a toddler, even over 25 lbs (for me) since it distributes the weight so well and is nicely padded. Easy to put on, I have even held my sleeping toddler and then put the carrier on without waking her! Comfortable both with front and back carry (haven't tried it with side carry)
Baby bjorn: didn't like it but my partner did. not as supportive as other carriers which enable the baby to sit (like Ergo, mei tai and slings)
Sling: great for carrying infants and nursing...but only till a certain weight (maybe 15-18 lbs). Baby can sit or lay in it.
mei tai: great for versatility, front carry, back carry, high infant back carry, side carry. up until 25 lbs, then the straps start to dig in.
Bottom line: Love the Ergo, but i would be hard pressed to choose between it and a mei tai if I could only have one...so i would choose both!

I was skeptical about all the hype surrounding the Ergo and resisted getting one because it seemed pricey. But after trying on an Ergo at a store and comparing it to the other carriers I'd used, I was sold. It is the most comfortable and supportive carrier I've tried. I liked the look of the sporty Ergo models but after reading reviews that the shoulder straps weren't as padded I went with the 'original' model, because for me comfort is the main thing. I think the original might be hotter in the summer than the sport models, because the fabric is different. For me that's not an issue, I don't get overheated easily. But if I lived in a really hot climate I might order both types and try both out to see which I liked better.
I was concerned that my baby would resist facing inward, because she was used to facing out, and the Ergo does not have that position. But it hasn't been a problem at all. She has plenty of space to turn her head from side to side and see what's going on, and I think she likes being able to put her head on my chest when she's tired or when there's too much stimuli. It's actually much more snuggly, and I think we both prefer it. Some times the only way I can get her to fall asleep when she's really fussy is to put her in the Ergo and walk on our treadmill (this is handy when it's cold outside) and she settles right down and drifts off. The Ergo is easy for me to unsnap and then I can lay her down without waking her.
I like the pocket on the front, it's very roomy. I also like the sleeping hood and how it snaps to the shoulder straps. It provides head support and a little bit of a cocoon for the baby, although there's still spaces on the sides of the carrier to provide plenty of air circulation. Mainly though I just like that it is so COMFORTABLE for my back and my shoulders. I can carry the baby all day in this, and I do.
*Update*
I've used this carrier pretty much on a daily basis since buying it months ago and if I could only have one item of baby gear I would choose this over a stroller, baby swing, jumperoo, bouncer, even a crib any day. It's the ONE item we bought that has continued to be useful over time and it's the ONE thing my baby hasn't grown tired of. It's invaluable when traveling and even just going to the store. I've also found that if my baby is fighting a nap I can put her in it and vacuum for a while and she falls asleep. Still comfortable for my back as she gets bigger. I've washed and dried it multiple times and it looks good as new. Fantastic product.
